The cost of living is too high in our district and across the state. We feel it at the grocery store, the gas pump, and each month when it's time to pay the bills. Whether it is medical bills, childcare, or care for those in retirement, Minnesotans need relief. We need to simplify the tax code and lower taxes for working families, ensure every Minnesotan has access to affordable healthcare, and protect Medicare and Medicaid so our seniors are not forced to make impossible decisions about whether they can stay in the homes they’ve lived in for decades. With your help, we will make living in Minnesota affordable again. 

I will stand up to Big Insurance and Big Pharma in Saint Paul and deliver for all Minnesotans from our cities to our rural communities. The state sets the way insurance companies operate and we can eliminate out-of-network costs and the hassle of pre-approvals. I will also work on the state level to negotiate with pharmaceutical companies to significantly lower the cost of life-saving medicines that people depend on day-to-day. This fight is personal to me as the father of a special needs child who has had to work for years to dig our family out of medical debt related to a complicated birth, fighting insurance all the way.  

We need someone in Saint Paul who will stand up to Big Tech. We’ve seen what has happened to communities across the country when data centers are put up with little to no review and residents are left suffering from a host of problems including noise, fumes, dirty water, sky high energy bills, and lower property values. I will work to ban Non-Disclosure Agreements on the state level and support a moratorium on new data centers until we can trust a comprehensive review process to protect our environment and our communities. 

Our community members have a right to privacy. We do not need Big Brother watching us every time we leave the house to pick up a prescription or take our kids to soccer practice. We cannot trust the word of tech executives who say that they will be responsible with our data – we’ve heard that line before. AI-enabled surveillance tech has proven to be vulnerable to security breaches and misuse by operators, and misidentification of suspects has put innocent people’s lives in danger. I will work to ban Flock cameras across the state of Minnesota until we can independently verify that the data of millions of Minnesotans will not be hoarded and misused without warrants. This tech, and any future surveillance technology must be tightly controlled and monitored so that it is only used in the public interest. 

I believe in good, balanced government and the rule of law. Through my work with the union, I have spoken to many of the state workers who have been tasked with cleaning up this mess and I have been openly critical of choices made to prioritize money to contractors over front line workers, especially in oversight. That money would have been better spent addressing staffing shortages and outdated computer systems across the county and state agencies that created the conditions for the fraud to take place.  

I appreciate the steps that the legislature has taken with the creation of a statewide Inspector General, with work starting already to stop the bleeding. I believe that there is no such thing as an acceptable amount of fraud, and I assure you that I will work with all members of the State Legislature willing to hold accountable any person who has misused the tax dollars of hard-working Minnesotans. 

We need to fully fund our public schools and support working families. Right now, schools in our district are struggling to retain staff and are forced to make difficult tradeoffs due to budget constraints. I support making funds available through the state’s Permanent School Fund to fully fund our schools  WITHOUT RAISING TAXES. Releasing money from this already-existing fund would allow us to make restorations, improve our schools' ability to keep talented and caring staff, fully fund our special education cross-subsidy, and improve on-campus safety. 

Supporting our farmers is very important to me. I’ve seen how corporate interests take advantage of legal loopholes and market structures to extract maximum profits for themselves at the expense of our farming communities – whether it’s preventing farmers from repairing their own equipment or limiting how they can take their goods to market. And we need to support not only the farm itself but allow for greater freedom to process, transport, and sell crops directly. Farmers know what works best for them, and we need to get big corporations and government bureaucracy out of the way and allow our rural economy to thrive.  

I unequivocally support our law enforcement and believe in Constitutional values – yes, all of them. I look forward to working at the state level to protect and support our most vulnerable neighbors by funding programs that develop community cooperation with police departments. I will also ensure that our State Patrol and prison guards are supported in the difficult and necessary work that they do – that means dealing with staffing shortages with competitive wages, and maintaining good retirement benefits.
